What Is The Student Nutritionist Program?
The Student Nutritionist Program, housed under the Department of Nutrition and in collaboration with the Department of Kinesiology, provides training, supervision, and opportunity for nutrition students to offer wellness-based counseling, nutrition education, and resources to the campus community. The program is overseen by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Educator. The program offers a unique and wonderful interdisciplinary opportunity for nutrition students to get real world experience as well as provides a valuable service (free nutrition counseling, education, and support!) to the UMass community. It is important that we have all the resources we need to offer this community service as well as to support the continued training and education of our current and prospective Student Nutritionists.
Why Do We Need Your Support?
The Student Nutritionist Program is currently seeking funds -- with a goal of $3,500 -- to help setup the counseling space and offset other costs. Specific needs include a professional set of food models with displays, a white noise machine, a white board, and other office supplies, print and electronic educational resources, online subscriptions, marketing materials, program uniforms and apparel, client giveaways, dedicated parking permits, and other expenses. We are excited to be able to continue to offer robust and accessible nutrition services to the campus community with your support.
We are grateful for any financial gift you are able to make. Thank you!
