Dear Alumnae, Family and Friends,
I am beyond excited to announce that we are headed to Portugal in August 2019! We will be able to offer our players a once in a lifetime cultural experience. The time spent abroad will also allow for team bonding, give our players an international playing experience and begin our preparation for our 2019-2020 campaign.
Our trip will span eight days in the southern most region of the country including Lisbon and The Algarve. Highlights for the trip include a sailing trip on the Tagus River in Lisbon, Tuk tuk tour (small three-wheeled motorized vehicle) of historical sites in Lisbon including the Tower of Belem, a tour of sintra, kayaking, and a zipline adventure in Algarve.
This incredible adventure would not be possible without the generous support of our alumni, family and friends. A loyal donor has already contributed $25,000 towards this experience. We need to raise an additional $25,000 to make it a reality. Last April we got off to a good start raising over $5,000 towards this effort during UMass Gives. We had several more contributions over the summer months to move us even closer to our goal.
If you have already made a gift to support this effort, THANK YOU! Please consider making an additional gift towards this educational and cultural experience. For those of you who have not contributed yet, I ask for your consideration to support these young women. For questions about our fundraising for women's basketball please reach out to Heather Palmer, assistant athletic director for development at hpalmer@umass.edu.
Sincerely,
