The Penny Remsen Design & Technology Theater Internship Fund

The Penny Remsen Design & Technology Theater Internship Fund

Call it the internship Catch-22: internships offer the valuable experience and networking needed to get a good start in your chosen career, but it can be hard for students to afford an internship when it's unpaid or comes with only a small stipend.

To help students in technical theater and theater design (costume, scenic, lighting, sound) who might otherwise not be able to afford to take on an internship, the Department of Theater is creating the Penny Remsen Design & Technology Theater Internship Fund.

Our goal is to raise $5000, to match a gift of $5000 from painter Alice Arkin that serves as seed money.

This fund is named in honor of Professor of Lighting Design Penny Remsen, an ardent proponent of internship opportunities who has long noted this need for additional support for technical theater and theater design students.

Help us open doors for our students. Please support this new endowment that will put students on a rewarding career path in theater!
