UMass Hockey Excellence Fund

Dear UMass Hockey Supporters:

As we look to the future of our Ice Hockey program, now is the time for us to galvanize our alumni, friends and family in support of our next head coach and our student-athletes. As you are aware, we have tremendous facilities in the Mullins Center and our dedicated practice rink that position us well in Hockey East and nationally. In order to keep pace with our peers, we are in need of some programmatic enhancements to these facilities so we can provide the best possible student-athlete experience and assist our coaches in their recruiting efforts moving forward.

Some of the areas where we need to invest over the next six months:

• Coaching Office Suite – Including new furniture, fixtures and branding

• Finishing off the new team video area across from the hockey locker room – branding and updated furniture

• Refresh our programmatic branding in all team areas of the Mullins Center

• Updated computers and software for video review, scouting and recruiting

• Equipment enhancements for the weight room in the practice rink

• Creation of a new dryland shooting and stickhandling area in the practice rink

I have made it very clear in my public comments to the media and our fans that we will not be satisfied until we compete for Hockey East Championships and an annual invite to the NCAAs. That is not rhetoric – we are going to make this happen.  In achieving this vision, each student-athlete that takes the ice will have FIRST-CLASS resources befitting a FIRST-CLASS program.

Our goal is to raise a minimum $75,000 in support of our hockey program. This goal will help us make a statement that the University of Massachusetts is committed to competing for championships in the best collegiate hockey conference in the country.
