The UMass Chamber Choir has an amazing opportunity to serve as part of the resident chorus for the Sarteano (Italy) Chamber Choral Conducting Workshop (SCCCW). This residency will mark our seventh international tour under conductor, Dr. Tony Thornton, who has recently been named the Artistic Director of the SCCCW.
Show Your Support
In order for UMass students to participate in this life-changing tour, we need your help to fund travel, lodging, and food during our ten days in Italy. The university has already promised partial funding for the tour. Our fundraising goal of $25,000 will help to fill in the gap so that all of our 28 singers can tour with us.
What Will Our Students Gain from the Experience?
UMass students will join musicians from around the world—educators from public and private schools, music directors and choral ensemble members from churches and religious institutions, community chorus conductors and singers, and pre-professional and professional conductors and singers—to rehearse and perform choral music in churches and venues throughout Sarteano. Students will also have the opportunity to work with renowned conductor, Simon Carrington, a founding member of the King's Singers, as well as early music specialists, Marcello Mazzetti and Livio Ticli. The musical connections and new friendships formed will positively impact UMass students for the rest of their lives.

Please make your tax-deductible contribution today to support our students and spread the word to others who might wish to help us achieve our fundraising goal. The campaign deadline is December 20, so consider making this donation a part of your year-end giving in 2021. Thank you for your generosity!
