Each year the School of Public Health and Health Sciences provides its online and campus-based graduate students the opportunity to complete their required practicum course in Ghana. The program is interprofessional and service-learning in nature, and has the sole aim of providing public health and healthcare professionals with the ability to gain skills working and learning in low-resource healthcare settings.
Students live and work in the health district and learn from various health care and public health providers in the district. Additionally, they participate in community initiatives and host health clinics with our partners.
In January 2024, we will send 9 students to Akwapim South Health District in the hills north of Accra. We are raising funds to support their travel expenses and hope to raise $9000.
Since the program is entirely self-funded by each student, the goal of this campaign is to provide financial assistance for each student, so they can focus on the experience.
