The Degel board has an exciting year of programming planned this year and we're thrilled to partner with UMass Hillel and Rabbi Raffi (OUJLIC rabbi) to create this special fundraiser. Your support will help fuel the continued growth of our community and ensure that Hillel has the necessary funds to provide Degel a new (meat!) Chulent Fund for kiddush, daily learning initiatives, social events, food, and more!
Your meaningful support makes an immediate impact. Please help us reach our goal to raise at least $3,800 for Hillel from Degel.
At Degel, we believe in the power of community, and there's no greater way to strengthen our bonds than by supporting one another. This year, we're calling on students to take the lead in our fundraising efforts. When we invest in our own community, we create a deeper sense of connection and commitment.
To make this possible, an anonymous student has stepped forward with an incredible offer: they will dollar-match every student donation up to $1,900! This means your contribution as a student can go twice as far in supporting the Jewish community here at UMass.
By coming together, we can reach our goal and ensure that Degel continues to be a vibrant and essential part of our campus life. Let’s show that we care not just with our presence, but with our support. Every dollar counts, and when it’s from one student to another, it means even more.
"I am proud of Degel being a nonjudgmental melting pot as it has the unique ability to bring together diverse groups of Jews under the umbrella of tradition and community!"
- Sam Kinches, class of '25
"As an out of state student, the Degel community here has really been my home away from home. I've felt welcomed since my first week here and I can't wait to welcome incoming Freshmen this year."
- Isaac Leibowitz, class of '25
"I look forward to coming to shabbat dinner every week at Hillel. I understand it's not easy to organize a fully kosher Shabbat every single week on campus so I'm excited to be able to give back through this fundraiser!"
- Yehudah Browne, class of '26
