Who is the UMass Ice Skating Club?

The UMass Ice Skating Club is a newly registered student organization at UMass Amherst that welcomes skaters of all levels onto the ice! Because we encourage new skaters to test out the ice, we provide our members with rental skates and host weekly skate times where we offer our skaters lessons. With most of our e-board being new to skating, we try to foster a supportive, learning environment. 

In the beginning of our first full academic year of being an RSO, we have run into some financial troubles that have made it harder for us to welcome all of our members onto the rink. Because of the cost of our rink times and skate rentals, we have only been able to host one practice a week, but this only allows 40 members to skate. Each week, we have about 80 students sign up to skate, so half are turned away. We have already raised dues for our members this semester, but that isn't enough to afford hosting more than one practice each week. 

In order to make the UMass Ice Skating Club able to better reach all of its 260+ members, we need to host more skate times. This can be made possible with your donation! We want to continue fostering a space where UMass skaters, from beginners to pros, can be part of a community that wants to learn from and support one another. We hope that YOU will help us reach our goal so we can get more skaters on the ice!
