Dhadak aims to promote cultural diversity through different dance styles at UMass Amherst, as well as the local Amherst community. Some of these dance styles include Bollywood, Bhangra, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuthu, Garba, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. UMass Dhadak competes nationally at various DDN competitions, inter-collegiate dance competitions, and performs at on-campus events as well. Dhadak had a clean sweep this past competition season, placing 2nd at Norman Nachle, 2nd at Knoxville Ki Jawaani, and 1st at SBU Sholay!
Dhadak has so much to look forward to for this 2024-2025 season! If we reach our goal, we will be able to attend more nationwide competitions and bring UMass more titles and recognition. We will be able to spread our message of bringing everyone together through dance and sharing our culture.

The props and costumes we use enhance our performance to the max! Having a variety of props will up the scale of our production and catch the eyes of the judges!
Having a high quality mix of songs and videos for our performance is vital so we have the opportunity to show our cultural diversity through incredible music, and give our board the needed resources to produce the highest quality of music.
In order to perform at these national competitions, we need to cover costs related to initial applications to competitions and roster fees. This allows us to focus on perfecting our performance and representing our school on a larger stage.
Staying near competition venues allows us to rest before performing, build our brand, and connect with other teams. Through this, we receive many opportunities that help us grow and improve as a team!
Competing in different states around the US allows us as dancers to put ourselves on the big stage and showcase our creativity and hard work. It allows us to continue to improve ourselves as dancers and broaden our understanding of different dance styles, while also putting UMass on the map!
