Massachusetts Daily Collegian 2024-2025

Dear students, faculty, staff and cherished alumni!

Once again, your editorially independent and student-run campus newsletter is looking for your support in our annual UMass MinuteFund campaign! Thanks to the support of our donors, the Massachusetts Daily Collegian has been serving the greater Amherst community and UMass campus since 1890 with pride. Your contributions, no matter the amount, allow us to continue producing high-quality journalism and keep our community informed on topics that matter. 

This time last year, we had this event and fundraiser after experiencing a challenging financial period and struggling to continue operations during post-pandemic recovery. Nevertheless, thanks to your incredible support, we were able to not only recover from a challenging financial period and expand print operations, but exceed our fundraising goals, raising an incredible $10,000 through UMassGives last year!

Thanks to your help, this past year we have been able to:

• Print and distribute colored magazines throughout Amherst, the greater Pioneer Valley, and Five College region
• Stabilize and strengthen our financial position after relieving long-term debt
• Purchase necessary production equipment for podcast, photos, and arts sections
• Utilize funds to send writers to Brooklyn for sports section for on-site reporting

With your additional support, we hope to…

• Increase quantity and frequency of magazines (in color!) to outreach further in Amherst and surrounding areas
• Develop a centralized multimedia platform
• Apply to awards to increase prestige and professionalism
• Reserve funds for writers to travel to journalism conferences and on-location reporting

We invite you to, please, donate what you can to support our cause. While we are extremely grateful for those who can give more than $50, we equally appreciate those who can give smaller amounts—every donation counts, no matter the size. As a token of our appreciation, all donors who contribute at least $50 will receive a special shoutout on the donor wall in our next Collegian magazine!
