Dear UMass Club Golf Donors,
Happy New Year!
I want to start in the only correct place, thanking you all.
When we first laid eyes on our ferociously slashed budget we were prepared to tell the team our season would be just 2 months long and our 7 seniors could consider their careers done. We had but one option - to seek out the support of our community. The support that we received from you, the UMass Golf Community, was unlike we or the university had ever seen before.
When I (Markus Pierre - Secretary and President Elect) sat down with University faculty to organize this online fundraiser I was told our goal was crazy - teams struggle to raise $5,000 in a school year, nevermind $20,000…in 3 weeks. We would not be where we are today, nor would our future look as bright without every single one of you who supported us. From the bottom of our hearts, the UMass Club Golf team thanks you.
You proved to us how unbelievably strong of a community and support system we have and, as a team with magnificent goals (including working towards a D1 program), we would be mistaken to not harness this support network. With that in mind we wanted to gather our community in a more formal setting and ask you to join the first ever UMass Club Golf Network - The Swinging Sam Collective!
