The Bryan Hilliard Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of D. Bryan (“Deeb”) Hilliard - former UMMB trumpet section leader, graduated in February of 1993 - who, on July 3, 2025, suffered a fatal heart attack while doing what he loved, playing the trumpet. Deeb’s son, Duncan Hilliard, is also a UMass grad (class of 2023), and was UMMB trumpet section leader exactly 30 years after his dad. 

With your help, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to a UMMB trumpet player of any major.
