Black Student Union 2026
The Black Student Union (BSU) at UMass Amherst is a student‑led organization dedicated to building a strong, inclusive community for Black students and allies. Through cultural programming, leadership development, social events, and advocacy, BSU uplifts and celebrates Black culture while addressing the needs and experiences of Black students on campus.
This year, BSU is proud to host its Black History Month showcase, Harlem Nights, on February 28th, 2026, from 6 PM to 10 PM in the Black Box Theater. Harlem Nights offers students a meaningful and transformative cultural experience inspired by the Harlem Renaissance. Featuring live jazz, spoken word, poetry, and performances rooted in Black traditions, the showcase highlights the depth and richness of the African Diaspora. By engaging with local Black vendors, artists, and alumni, students gain a deeper understanding of both the historical significance of the Harlem Renaissance and the ongoing legacy of Black artistry, creativity, and cultural expression. The event fosters pride, representation, and community connection, making it a powerful celebration of Black history and culture.
Your donation directly supports BSU’s mission and helps fund events like Harlem Nights, along with future initiatives and resources that cultivate belonging, empowerment, and cultural enrichment for Black students at UMass Amherst. Thank you for supporting our continued legacy of unity, advocacy, and celebration.
