Description
The purpose of the UMass Shotokan Karate Club is to promote the sound mental, physical, and emotional development of its members through the study of traditional Shotokan karate. We are members of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) and the East Coast Collegiate Karate Union (ECCKU), with instruction led by Sensei Jared Carver, 5th dan.
The UMass Shotokan Karate Club is dedicated to making martial arts accessible to all students and faculty on campus and providing access to expert instructors. We compete regionally at various colleges and consistently rank highly in a multitude of categories, thanks to our expert instructors.
In order to continue our goals of providing accessible karate to the community, we need to be capable of paying our instructors, which allows us to keep our dues at a minimum during the semester. Martial arts is an expensive sport, and our club consistently keeps dues low to maintain accessibility. In order to pay our instructors, we are required to fundraise to make up for the money we do not collect from members of the club.
Your support would allow us to continue to provide experienced instructors to the club, which allows us to continue ranking well in competitions and maintaining the fundamentals of traditional karate, which is to develop as a person.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference to our club. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and will help keep karate accessible to members of the campus community. Additionally, your generosity will not go unnoticed; for milestones within our fundraiser, the Eboard will participate in a variety of activities. The milestone activities are listed below:
250 dollars - Eboard ice bucket
500 dollars - E-board jumps into Boyden Pool in uniform
1000 dollars - E-board dyes their hair the color of the club's choice
1500 dollars - E-board gets a new piercing / first piercing
2000 dollars - E-board wears silly costumes all day (including trainings)
2500 dollars - President runs half marathon in uniform
After 2500 dollars, for every additional 100 dollars, the E-board will run a mile!
