Alternative Spring Break

UMass Amherst's Alternative Spring Break (ASB) will be sending multiple teams of students to Houston over Winter break and to North Carolina and Houston over Spring break. The students of ASB will be spending their school vacations in these places of desperate need by participating in home reconstruction. Your gift will help offset the student trip fee that covers transportation, food, lodging and construction materials for home repairs. 

Each team of 10 students is led by at least one co-leader who has participated in an Alternative Break program before. Adding a Winter trip this year has made it financially difficult for our leaders to serve on more than one trip each, without additional fundraising. Having fewer student leaders, in turn may limit the number of students we can send to these locations. Donations will be able to fund the co-leaders costs of their multiple trips so we have the opportunity to send up to 50 students to these areas instead of only 20. Also, because the distance to Texas require air travel, we will need increased financial assistance to enable students to fly.
