The UMass Amherst Powerlifting club is now entering its second year as a student organization and the number of members have doubled since the first year. The increased interest in the club as well as the sport of powerlifting has increased the number of events like team practices that the club has been holding and will continue to hold. One of the main focuses of the club is to help new competitors to participate in competitions by helping to subsidize their expenses. The biggest competition of the year for the club, Collegiate Nationals, is coming up on April 18th and will be held in College Station Texas at Texas A&M. With the increased interest in the club doubling, so has the number of people competing at Nationals which is very exciting. 11 of the team members have been training very hard in preparation for this competition and are looking forward to competing on a national stage.
This part is where we need your help, we are looking for donations to help fund travel, competition fees, and accommodations. Each donation made is a step towards representing UMass and ourselves against other schools at nationals. In order to get all our ducks in a row before it's time to leave we are seeking funding as soon as possible so reservations can be made. We all extend our greatest thanks for your contribution and look forward to competing in April. The competition will be live streamed, and an update with the link will be sent out as the competition date gets closer.
