Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS)

Together, we will work to advance equity through research-based solutions to societal problems in health, learning & work, and climate change.

Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS)

The Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS) brings together faculty and students from UMass and the Five Colleges with the mission of connecting STEM to social good through research and education.

On the research front, we promote science, engineering, and technology research on topics that advance equity and social justice. On the education front, we host student-facing programs to promote the success of diverse students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

All gifts are deeply appreciated and will support the following work:

  • Supporting multidisciplinary student-faculty teams conducting STEM research with an equity focus.
  • Hosting seminars and academic mixers highlighting STEM research that is tackling challenging social problems in areas such as health, learning and work, and climate change.
  • Providing students with opportunities to gain hands-on mentored research experience, especially those who are underrepresented in science, engineering, and technology.
  • Helping students underrepresented in STEM fields succeed in college and navigate the transition to early careers.

We are very grateful for your support. Together, we will work to advance equity through research-based solutions to societal problems in health, learning & work, and climate change.
