UMass Club Fencing Fundraiser
The UMASS Club Fencing Team needs your support to compete at Nationals at Penn State on April 11-12!
Who are we?
We are a large club dedicated to providing great experience and opportunities for fencers and a solid base for those new to the sport to start learning and competing. We give equal opportunities to all fencers no matter their gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or financial stability. As one of the oldest sports student organization on campus, we have a long history of teaching fencing and participating in local and national tournaments. We have been able to see a return of alumni as their kids join the UMass Fencing Club as they did when they were at UMass. We aim to give the best opportunities for our fencers, whether they are brand new or trained with Olympians.
What is the event?
"The United States Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs (USACFC) was established in 2003 to educate and promote fencing at the collegiate level throughout the United States. The organization began with 13 teams and has grown to over 45 teams since its inception. The USACFC was formed as a Nonprofit Corporation in 2005. Each year the organization holds a national fencing championship in the host city of one of the member colleges."
We are traveling to Penn State this year in hopes of winning the National Championship!

Why do we need your support?
The University has recently cut club funding so we need your help to maintain our finances. It will help with registration fees, hotel costs, transportation and more. Having the opportunity to represent UMass at Nationals is an honor and we hope you can help us. Every bit helps! Thank you in advance!!

$5
Donut
In a pool (preliminary) bout, beating someone 5-0 is a "donut" meaning your opponent didn't score a SINGLE point... talk about brutal. We'll donut plenty of fencers at Nationals!
$8
Top Eight Competitor
Achieving top eight at a tournament can come with a rating and maybe a ribbon, but hopefully we'll get first place at Nationals!
$14.14
La Belle
When the score is tied at 14-14, the ensuing touch is called "La Belle" (The Beautiful) as it decides the outcome of the bout. It is the most crucial moment of the match and it is customary to salute one's opponent before continuing. Similarly, your donation comes at a crucial time for this club as we begin preparations for Nationals!
$25
USACFC Fan
There are 25 other Universities convening at Penn State from all over the country and we're excited to meet (and compete!) against them!
$45
Team Player
Traditional team fencing is a 3v3 relay to 45 points, adding even more strategy and coordination to the match! It's a long haul, as is our journey to Penn State and we thank you very much for the immense support!
